On Saturday, March 29th, 2025, Spring Lake FD was honored to host the Ulster County chapter of the Disabled American Veterans when they celebrated the dedication of Lucas Ave. Ext (Country Route 1) as the Vietnam War Veterans Highway. Per a statement on Facebook:
“A section of Lucas Avenue, also known as County Road 1, was designated as the Ulster County Vietnam War Veterans Memorial Highway at a ceremony on Saturday, March 29.”
Not only in attendance were Vietnam Veterans, their families and friends, but the community support was overwhelming! Wonderful job by all organizations/ agencies involved.
Many tears were shed at this beautiful dedication!
